Babalu's Diary: Spring 2008

Well, its springtime here at the ranch and boy is it beautiful! Everything is so green and the wildflowers are blooming. The only thing I'm not sure about is that the stallions are acting weird, playing rougher than usual - and they spend A LOT of time standing at the fence gazing at the girls pasture! Silly boys!

I've been getting lots of extra attention lately and I like that a lot. Mom is working with me to get ready to start riding me! I’m being really good and only tried to jump in her lap a couple of times cause' that stupid Emu ran up to the fence and scared me. Have you ever seen one of those things?! Its creepy!

We've been having practice sessions here for equine assisted learning and psychotherapy. Us horses love it cause' of all the people coming to visit and hang out with us, it's great! I'm super patient and stand really still while they do all kinds of things to me cause' I don’t want to scare anyone. I can tell mom is real proud of us even though we're just being ourselves, not doing anything special really.

Justi is a new daddy! His first colt of the year was born at Oak Basin Farms in Yelm, Washington. The mama is a beautiful Throughbred mare and they're both doing fine. We should have pictures to show you real soon. There should be babies coming every month now for a while, we're very excited to see them all!

I finally got to meet Sonador and Diamante! They were home for a short time before going to training with Sarah Pinney while Cynthia Royal is on tour back east. They're learning classical dressage. Do you think they’d let a Belgium draft horse do that?! I'd sure like to try!

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful time of year!

Take good care, Babalu
